Clermont Family Dentistry is excited to announce that our office is now open for all treatments and procedures, and that we’re taking additional special measures to ensure the health and safety of our patients and staff.
Learn moreAt Clermont Family Dentistry, our doctors have years of experience in family dentistry. We treat a wide age-range of patients from toddlers (age 3 or older) to older kids, pre-teens, and teenagers. Schedule an appointment today, and get the care your child needs for a healthy mouth.
At your child’s cleaning, one of our dental hygienists will clean, polish and floss their teeth to remove plaque and tartar, and your dentist will examine their mouth to ensure their mouths are developing properly. We’ll also apply fluoride to their teeth to strengthen them.
X-rays may also be recommended once per year if you approve. Dental x-rays are important for young children, as they allow us to find hidden issues like tooth decay, and track their oral development more effectively.
Your child’s teeth must be brushed for at least 2 minutes twice per day, ideally in the mornings and at night, before bed. You will have to brush your child’s teeth until they’re 6 years of age. Use a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste.
In addition, your child’s teeth should also be flossed once per day. You’ll usually have to floss for them until the age of about 10. Your dentist can provide you with additional tips for proper at-home oral hygiene at your appointment.
Dental sealants use transparent dental resin to protect your child’s teeth from cavities. This resin is applied to your child’s rear teeth in a liquid form after a cleaning. Then, your dentist will harden the resin using a special UV light. This creates a barrier that prevents oral acid from contacting your child’s enamel, halting and preventing tooth decay. With proper care, this barrier can last up to 10 years.
We use tooth-colored fillings at Clermont Family Dentistry. These fillings can be matched to the color of your child’s tooth. They provide a very strong hold and require the removal of less enamel, which makes them a better choice compared to metal amalgam fillings.
We offer a wide variety of dental crowns including tooth-colored porcelain crowns, stainless steel crowns, NuSmile crowns, strip crowns, and Pedo-Jacket crowns. Crowns are designed to cover up and protect damaged baby teeth and ensure that they remain strong and healthy until they fall out naturally as your child grows. If your child has a broken tooth or a serious cavity, they may need a crown.
We offer endodontic treatments such as pulpotomies at Clermont Family Dentistry. This treatment may be required if a deep cavity in a child’s baby tooth has resulted in an infection. Your doctor will open up the tooth, remove the decayed material, and eliminate the infection, preventing the tooth from dying and falling out.
Tooth extraction is always our last resort, but it may be necessary if your child has a seriously-damaged baby tooth. After extracting the tooth, your child will need a space maintainer. Space maintainers help keep the proper gap between your child’s teeth after they lose a tooth. Without one, their adjacent teeth will naturally shift toward the empty position.
We offer both nitrous sedation and oral conscious sedation to pediatric patients. With sedation, your child can feel calm and comfortable throughout their next appointment at Clermont Family Dentistry.
