Dentures are custom-made to fit your mouth and give you a natural-looking, healthy smile. After your dentist takes an impression of your mouth, a dental laboratory will create your dentures. Both full and partial dentures are usually constructed from acrylic resin or plastic, and they are built to be the same appearance, color, and shape of your natural teeth.
Partial dentures usually use metal wiring to attach to other healthy teeth, while “full arch” dentures sit snuggly on the gums. We also offer implant dentistry and restorations for qualifying patients. Instead of sitting on the gums, these dentures use dental implants to permanently attach to the gums and jaw.
Regardless of which type of denture is used, they all do the same thing. By replacing missing teeth, they allow you to eat, drink, and speak normally.
Partial dentures can be used as an alternative to dental crowns or bridges, to replace one or more missing teeth. They are attached to healthy teeth using a specialized wire framework.
The other most common type of denture is a “full arch” denture. These dentures replace all of the teeth of your upper or lower jaw.
Full dentures are usually required if oral care neglect, periodontal disease, or tooth decay has resulted in the loss of the majority of your teeth. This is because all remaining teeth must be extracted before full arch dentures can be placed.
Full dentures often take a few weeks to manufacture. However, “immediate” dentures are also available at our practice. When you get immediate dentures, your mouth is examined and dentures are manufactured before any of the remaining teeth are extracted.
Once the denture has been made, your teeth are removed, and your denture is delivered. This ensures that you can wear your dentures as soon as your mouth has healed from the extractions.
Dentures have a number of benefits that may make them right for you.
